Google Will Kill Rankings for Non Mobile Friendly Websites

Google's at it again, they've added another, potentially huge, nightmare to the mix regarding mobile searches.

In a blog post published on the 26th February, they stated, "Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results."

For Google to come out and just plainly state this means it is a fundamental change you need to be ready for, especially if you rely on traffic from mobile search.

In other words, if you see your website in the search results on your mobile phone and it doesn't say "mobile friendly" at the beginning of the description, then you have a huge issue.

There's a big chance you will fall out of the rankings when a searcher looks for your business using their mobile phone.

This means if a website currently gets 40% of their visitors from mobile traffic and it doesn't have the mobile friendly tag, then that site might lose all those visitors come April 21st.

And this is not us blowing hot air for a reaction, this is real. It's not often Google gives a date and describes the consequences as 'significant'. Reading between the lines they're saying preference will be given to those with a Mobile-friendly site over others.
